A wanted felon who fled to Mexico to evade prosecution has been captured and booked at the Indio Jail, according to county sources.
Prosecutors say he is the prime suspect in slaying that took place in June 2013. One suspect died during the shooting.
Riverside County Sheriff’s Department officials say the defendant is being charged with murder and conspiracy. Due to the nature and severity of his crimes he is being detained on a no bail bonds hold.
This type of hold is not unusual when someone is being charged with murder or if the court deems the person in custody is a significant flight risk.
Sources close to the case say the wanted fugitive was tracked to a location near Mexico City after being on the run for about a year and a half. Authorities have not said how they were able to locate the man, or the circumstances under which he was arrested.
