News reports have confirmed that members of the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department have arrested a suspect in the shooting death that took place in Meade Valley.
The suspect, who has been identified at 30-year-old Maurilio Chaves, is currently being held without bail. No bail bonds holds are very common when a suspect has been arrested on suspicion of murder.
If the judge does decide to grant bail, the defendant’s bail bonds will likely be set in excess of one million dollars.
Investigators say they were tipped off about the crime when they received a call about a shooting that had taken place on a residential property.
When they arrived, they found a victim that had suffered a gunshot wound. The victim was later pronounced dead by first responders.
Authorities have not said how they were able to identify the suspect. It’s not immediately clear if the suspect has a prior history of arrest.
