A spokesperson for the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department has confirmed that a 34 year-old man who crashed his car into a Coachella home has been arrested and booked for allegedly driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
The crash happened early Sunday morning, police said, when the man was traveling southbound on Shady Lane. At some point, he lost control of his vehicle and plowed into the front of the home.
No one was hurt, according to a report by KESQ.com, but the residents were visibly shaken. Riverside Sheriff’s deputies said the suspect was taken to a nearby hospital to be checked out before he was booked into the Indo Jail.
Riverside County Jail inmate search records show the defendant is no longer in custody; it’s unclear whether jailers released him on his own recognizance or if he needed to hire a bondsman to be released from custody.
It’s also unclear if this is the now-defendant’s first DUI arrest or if he has prior arrests for driving while under the influence.
