A father and son have been booked into the Southwest Detention Center. It believed the pair are connected to a series of recent auto burglaries.
Jaime Valles Junior was charged with numerous felony counts including being a felon in possession of a firearm, possession of ammunition, purchase of a firearm and illegal possession of body armor. His bail had been set at $5,000. Jail records show he has been released from custody through the assistance of a Riverside bondsman. Valles Junior is due to appear back in court later this month.
Jaime Valles Senior was also charged with numerous felony counts including being a felon in possession of a firearm, possession of illegal body armor and terrorist threats. His bail has been set at $25,000. Jail records indicate he is still in custody at the Southwest Detention Center. He is also due back in court later this month.
Riverside Police Department officials said the men were taken into custody earlier this week after a search warrant was executed at an Enchanted Heights home. None of the reported stolen property was located at the home. Both men were found to be in illegal possession of weapons, ammunition and body armor.
Authorities have not indicated how they came to suspect the father and son as being suspects in the auto burglaries. The number of cars broken into or the total value of the stolen property was not immediately available. Police have not said whether they believe additional people are involved in the crime spree.
The investigation is ongoing.
